Making the most of the Mass
$10.00

Here is a brief, well illustrated, readable outline of the history, structure and purpose of the Mass. It comes from Adelaide. It touches on the origins of the Mass and its Jewish connection right through to explaining the parts of the Mass, its vestments and vessels. It is an excellent production giving a very manageable overview of the Mass leading to a greater appreciation of it. Great for families, RCIA and teachers.

We worship and celebrate together

As well as our day-to-day life of prayer and celebration as a community, Catholics also celebrate special rituals and festive occasions.

The sorts of occasions we gather together to celebrate can be small gatherings, or large festivals. Here are a few examples:

  • Grace before meals
  • Regular family prayer
  • Simple household blessings
  • Sunday Mass
  • Christmas
  • Easter
  • Weddings

We meet God in our everyday human experience, so Catholics are encouraged to approach all their life activities with a sense of prayer and an awareness of their identity as a people of faith.

God also calls us to worship as a people. The Mass is the Church's central act of worship. It is where we celebrate that Jesus died for us, and rose again. Mass can be on any day, and many people celebrate it on Sunday. We believe that Jesus Christ comes among his people once again when we celebrate Mass, so it's an important event for Catholics.

Whenever we gather together, whether it's a small or large gathering it is 'in the name of Jesus'.
